lack of power at low rpms?

My car runs pretty strong most of the time, but I have the strangest problem. If I'm at anything under 4K RPMS and try to hit boost, the car just surges and bogs down. Boost shows on the boost guage, and I can hear the JRSC going, but the car just won't accelerate. Now, if I hit it at anything over 4k, it'll just rip to redline with no problems. Anyone able to field a guess as to what the cause of this is? I suppose it's not that big a deal to live with, sice I can always just downshift, but it'd be nice to be able to get a little more pull down low. It has come to my attention that my plug wires are on their last legs, could this be the culprit? I've got a new set on order, but they won't be here until monday. My dyno graph is in my post a few subjects down, and it looks like the car is making good power all the way through the band. Any suggestions before I take my car back in to be dynoed next Monday or Tuesday?

sure it's not all in your head?
maybe ur engine just doesnt have much power down there.

honda engines by design don't really start making power till 3k anyways..

alot of ignition retard can affect lowend i've heard.. but thats just hearsay, i'm no tuner..

I noticed a good improvement by retarding my timing a little more. I didn't use a timing light, so I can't say what the exact setting is.
